My interest in health began 23 years ago when my Mama and I choose to become Vegan. She studied at Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida and would teach me what she learned. Over the years I enjoyed many courses, seminars, and expos around the world on health.

Protein Protein Where Art Thou?

Protein Protein Where Art Thou?

The good news is all plants have protein! That’s right even raspberries have protein. Albeit just 3% but point is everything is made with protein. A bowl of white rice has 8% protein. I realize this concept is hard to believe because it goes against what you have always been taught. But the time has come to challenge your beliefs. A wide variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes will provide you with all of the essential amino acids your body needs. And actually in a more bio available form than cooked meat.

Did you know that raw spinach has more protein than a cooked steak. The reason for this is because when you cook meat the protein fuses. A more visible example can be seen with hair. Your hair is pure protein and if you have ever gotten too close to a candle you will have had the experience where your hair fuses together into a solid clump. You can’t separate it or transform it back into hair. It becomes essentially unrecognizable.
Well the same goes for the protein in meat and eggs. The body can’t use it once it fuses. So in actuality, you may think you are consuming large amounts of protein by eating animal products but that’s not the case. Reinforcing the idea that you don’t actually need that much.
