What Are Diabetics “Supposed” To Eat?

I’ll answer this question by asking you a question… What is the most nutritious thing you can think of eating? Write down the first thing that comes to your mind. What food item has the most vitamins and minerals? If you are having trouble picking you can write your top three. Ready? OK, I’m guessing you wrote spinach, bananas or blueberries. Was I right? Most likely it was a fruit or vegetable. The interesting thing is we innately know what’s most nutritious for us but we have been taught to choose otherwise. Interesting ey?

Your health depends on adequate supply of nutrients, which includes vitamins, mineral, phytochemicals, along with clean air and water. In addition, sufficient exercise and rest, a sense of community and contribution, feeling loved, safe, and peaceful are all also essential components of health but consuming sufficient nutrients is the foundation. You could work out like Schwarzenegger and meditate like the Dalai Lama, if your cells are not being supplied with adequate nutrition your body will succumb to disease. Your cells absolutely need nutrients to function properly. How we get those nutrients is what this section is all about.

The fact is, all humans are “supposed” to eat fruits and vegetables. Diabetics included! Fruits and veg are essential for our well being. I’ll share how to eat more fruits without spiking your blood sugars in the next post.
